REVIEW

August 06, 2003

This 2 CD set is a live concert by Hisayoshi Inoue featuring the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and featuring the music of Akira Ifukube, Loris Tjeknavorian and Yuzo Toyama. I don't believe anything here is really new or hasn't popped up on other CD's from time to time. However it is a nice collection of music and is well done here. The music on disc 1 is mostly slow moving and features the violin heavily. The Ifukube music on disc 2 features many familiar passages. I personally don't consider this set to be a must have item but it is surely a pleasant listen and features some really nice tracks here in one place if you don't have them on something else.

This CD set was recorded live on three seperate dates at Aram Khachaturian Hall in Yerevan, Armenia. Tracks 1-4 were recorded on September 10, 2000, track 5 & 6 on September 17, 2000 and Disc 2 was recorded October 3, 1993. Tracks 2-4 feature Masanori Kobiki on piano. Track 5 features Megumi Ogata on violin while Disc 2 features Takumi Kubota on violin.
