| REVIEW |
After a nice long disc for "Mothra vs. Godzilla", we drop back to a running time of just under 40 minutes. In all fairness though, if these CD's are recreations of original LP's then the times aren't too bad. For those of you who, like me, remember vinyl records, most LP's clocked in at between 30 and 40 minutes. There is some nice new stuff on this CD including some sound effects type music in places. There is an abundant amount of short cues on this disc. There is also a great, new tune at track #18 called "The Three Monsters Converge". However this tune and a lot of other tracks on this CD get pretty repetitious and most tracks run under 1 minute. Overall this certainly isn't a bad listening experience but most of the stuff here works much better in conjunction with the movie than as a separate listening experience. A very large part of this music will be reworked and used extensively in the 1991 "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah". The last 4 tracks on this disc feature some nice female vocals with the last 3, #26, 27 & 28, being variations of the same song. The disc is now out of print. However it has been nicely redone as part of the new Box Set 1 released September 20, 2004. See CD 5 on this site from that set. The set itself is located here at: 50th Anniversary GODZILLA Soundtrack Perfect Collection |
