This CD is by Masaru Satoh (also sometimes spelled Sato). The disc starts off with a "Main Title" that sounds like an Arabian Nights type tune. Track #2, "Young Go Go" is exactly what the title conjures up and sounds like a cross between the 1960's TV "Batman" theme mixed with guitar work that could have come from any of the early 60's "Beach Party" movies. Listening to this soundtrack and the other done by Mr. Satoh, it is very easy to hear the difference in styles and approaches taken by Mr. Satoh and Akira Ifukube. Mr. Ifukube's scores are filled with rousing marches and plenty of action music that is easily identified with Godzilla. Mr. Satoh paints an entirely different picture with his soft themes and contemporary (for it's time) pop tunes. While the music here by Mr. Satoh is pleasant to listen to, it just doesn't bring Godzilla to mind when heard apart from the movie. A lot of the tracks here are very similar to the first two either sounding Arabian Nights ish or guitar backed "Beach Party" and early "James Bond" sounding. Track #12 billed as "Mothra's Song" is nice but nowhere near the haunting, brain sticking, Mothra song by Akira Ifukube in "Godzilla vs. The Thing". The song does have female vocals but they are done by another set of twins called Pair Bambi rather than The Peanuts. The same song is done again in Track 19 & 33.
Overall this is a pleasant listening experience for what I thought was a poor film in the series. This holds up fairly well as stand alone music outside of the movie. But as I said before, if you just heard this without knowing it was from a Godzilla film you wouldn't associate it with Godzilla.
