REVIEW

March 27, 2015

This CD was given to KickStarter backers of this project who gave a below certain level. The SAMPLER was supposed to be a single disc and the disc in the cardboard sleeve does say "Single Disc Version". That being said, a second disc was also included that contained four tracks. Without thoroughly listening to these two discs and the two on the Ifukube 100: A Legacy Of Monster Music (MR10010) set I'm not sure what was left out of the SAMPLER since the running times on the discs are so close.

John DeSentis and friends who put together this project did a heck of a great job and the music on these CD's is fantastic. This is especially so considering almost no orchestra in the U.S. even attempts to play this great music and the sheet music is very difficult to find. Since last year's effort was so well received they have another KickStarter campaign running through April 25, 2015 for this year's G-FAN. You can get all the info at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1094605844/symphonic-fury-the-music-of-japanese-monsters. This one is called "SYMPHONIC FURY! THE MUSIC OF JAPANESE MONSTERS" by John DeSentis and Chris Oglio.

From John DeSentis: " As some of you below the $125 level may have realized, there was a secondary disc that came with your "single disc set". This was because we found that no matter what, there was no way for us to make all the contents fit onto one disc. So, in keeping our promise, we pressed a secondary one. It has also been brought to our attention that some of the tracks are mislabeled on the first single disc. "Ghidorah..." and "Monster Zero" are listed as separate suites but they should not be. This makes it look as if "Terror of Mechagodzilla" is missing when you load the disc. Rest assured, every track is there".

UPDATE: March 31, 2015

A friend of mine ordered the 2 CD set and asked what the difference was between the Sampler and 2 CD set. Here's what my friend found out:

The Sampler doesn't have the bonus track of the people clapping, but all the other content is pretty much the same between the two versions. The sampler is also a CD-R, does not have the booklet and has a cardboard slip cover and disc 2 comes in a paper sleeve. The discs and packaging in the regular CD version were all professionally pressed.
