| REVIEW |
May 30, 2001 The mother of all Japanese monster TV series. Master effects guru Eiji Tsuburaya launched his own production company in the mid-1960’s and created this 28 episode series that was a cross between The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Highly respected as one of the most well produced series, Tsuburaya reportedly stopped after 28 episodes only because his crew was fatigued by all the effort they had put into each show. Though the show had a regular cast, each episode was not limited to the formula plots of the later Ultraman series. As a result, Kunio Miyauchi had more freedom in creating unique thematic pieces for each episode, thus this CD represents the composer’s best music creepy themes (using tried and true effects heard in countless monster movies) . -- David Hirsch |
