March 12, 2007 Review by John M Emmons The Ultra Series Music File CDs are a collection of unreleased music from VAP's series of Ultraman soundtracks. The first volume contained unreleased music from Ultra Q and Ultraman, composed by the late Kunio Miyauchi. The second volume, reviewed here, contains music from three of the series composed by Tohru Fuyuki. The three series present in this CD are Ultraseven, Return of Ultraman, and Ultraman Leo. Ultraseven and Return of Ultraman seem to have roughly the same amount of space allotted to them, while Ultraman Leo only has 8 tracks at the end of the album. The music for Ultraseven focused more on variations of its main theme, including a rare English version of the theme song, while most of Return of Ultraman's music was very quiet and reserved. With seventy seven minutes and eighty one tracks, it leaves less than a minute per song. The brevity of these clips may annoy some listeners. I'd recommend this CD more for diehard fans who would be interested in completing their soundtrack collection.
